The Permanent Committee on Property of the Kamra tal-Periti, in collaboration with the Malta Bankers’ Association (MBA) and Archi+, is organising a half-day workshop titled “Property Valuation: A Practical Approach”.
The event will be held on 18th April 2023 at The Notch Conference Centre in Kappara, San Ġwann, and is supported by Bank of Valletta (BOV).
The workshop will focus on the differences between property market value and prudent value. These two notions will be explained, and insights will be given by Nick French, a leading valuation academic from the UK. He will provide information on the recent international developments on property valuation.
Valuation is the cornerstone of all real estate decisions, and the workshop will provide essential insights into the role of valuations in property investment and the importance of pricing to the market. Amongst the topics that it will focus on are the concepts and definitions of price, worth and value; valuations for secured lending: Basel III guidance and prudent value developments; valuation approaches, methods and models applied to real estate pricing; market approach: the relationship between market maturity and reliable comparable evidence; as well as the need to place valuations in the context of the market.
The workshop will kick off with an opening address by MBA Chair Marcel Cassar. He will be followed by a number of presentations by Prof. French on the aforementioned topics.
The event will also feature a panel discussion on the theme of “Valuation and Market Pricing”, which will be moderated by Justin Mizzi, a property valuation expert at Archi+. The panel will include Prof. French, Denis Camilleri from DHI Periti, BOV’s Glynn Drago, as well as Alan Cassar from the Central Bank of Malta. The event will come to a close with a speech by KTP President Andre Pizzuto.

Previously, he has worked as a Professor at various universities in the UK, Europe, and the USA, teaching extensively in the areas of valuation, investment, and corporate real estate on Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Master of Business Administration programmes.
