The Kamra tal-Periti is seeking to recruit a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Legal and Professional Affairs Officer on a part-time basis. This role is critical in upholding the ethical and professional standards of the profession, providing legal advice, and supporting the development of regulations and policies.

Position: Legal and Professional Affairs Officer (Part-Time)

Requirements:

  1. Educational Qualifications:
    A recognised degree in Law, preferably with a specialisation in Ethics and Deontology, or European Law.
    Other related disciplines such as Professional Ethics, Regulatory Compliance, or Public Administration will also be considered.
  2. Experience:
    – Proven experience in legal practice, regulatory affairs, or professional ethics.
    – Experience in investigating complaints or disputes is highly desirable.
    – Familiarity with the Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications Directive and the Public Procurement Directive would be considered an advantage.
  3. Skills:
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    Knowledge of Maltese is preferable but not essential.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    High level of integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Council with its investigations into ethical complaints against periti and prepare detailed reports for the Council.
  • Provide legal advice to the Council on matters related to the profession, regulations, and compliance.
  • Coordinate with the Council’s external legal advisors on all legal matters.
  • Assist in the drafting of regulations, laws, and professional standards.
  • Monitor and analyse legal and regulatory developments relevant to the profession.
  • Support the Kamra in promoting ethical practices and professional conduct among members.
