The overhauling of LN 136 of 2019, the fulfilment of the Letter of Commitment signed by Government on 2nd August 2019, and the implementation of the Kamra’s A Modern Building & Construction Regulation Framework for Malta have been the Council’s top priority for almost three years.
The vilification and abuse of the profession over the years to accommodate speculative interests of those with little to no regard to quality and public safety, and the exploitation of the profession to prop an unregulated and grossly dysfunctional construction industry has escalated to the point where the profession needs to take decisive action to protect its future.
The BCA’s latest ongoing debacle in the processing of clearances under L.N. 136 of 2019 is just symptomatic of the overarching regulatory chaos and deficiencies that need to be addressed with urgency.
This can only be achieved through strength in unity.
The profession is thus called upon to attend an Extraordinary General Meeting to be held on 26th May 2022 at 4pm at the Catholic Institute, Floriana.
During this meeting the Council will be laying out a detailed overview of all that has been going on in the past three years, together with a number of proposed specific actions for the Council and collective professional body to implement.
