Cultural Resilience; A Mediterranean Conference

In the 21st Century, there are many threats to our culture; Tourism, Climate Change, Armed Conflict. Such challenges make it impossible today to make any promises about culture and heritage protection: the focus is on cultural resilience across the board. It is about emergency protection and safeguarding.

The Kamra tal-Periti (KTP) and the Union of Mediterranean Architects (UMAR) are organising a conference on CULTURAL RESILIENCE – revolving around the Mediterranean Culture and the challenges it is facing, exploring the effects of Tourism, Climate Change, Armed Conflict and more, through the interventions of architects and civil engineers of the Mediterranean region and keynote speakers.

UMAR is a regional network uniting national architectural organizations from across the Mediterranean, working together to promote collaboration, knowledge exchange, and sustainable development in architecture. This conference will bring together leading voices to discuss how cultural heritage and innovation can strengthen resilience in our region.

As part of the UMAR General Assembly, which is being held in Malta and hosted by the KTP, an international conference will be held for the Mediterranean delegates, professionals on the islands of Malta and Gozo, and distinguished guests. The conference will be held at The Grist, Farsons’ Brewery in Mrieħel, an exemplary piece of Modernist architecture.
