What is a Perit?

The title of “perit” is the official title given to warranted architects, and civil (or structural) engineers. The term is of Italian origin, generically meaning “expert”.  For a long time, the title has been in use, within the construction industry, to refer to the person knowledgeable on, and responsible for, the design and construction of buildings or other works. How to get a warrant to practise as an architect or civil engineer in Malta

In Malta, the route to the professional status of perit, that is architect or civil engineer, is regulated by the Periti Act, Cap. 622 of the Laws of Malta. The Act defines the academic training requirements in conformity with Article 46 Para. 1 of the European Commission Directive 2005/36/EC, for the title of architect in Europe, the minimum academic training for civil engineers, and the professional traineeship requirements.
